Pesticides...oh, what to do??

So the American Academy of Pediatrics came out again saying that pesticides aren't awesome for kids. We figured as much :) But it is oh so tempting to pick the $2 giant gorgeous strawberries from Costco rather than the $5 scrawny organic ones. What's a mom to do?!?

I think the first thing to remember is that it is most important for our kids to eat healthy foods. A non-organic apple is better than an organic donut. And when we can, pick organic, but don't get in a tizzy if it's not going to happen. If you are trying to get the most bang for your buck, here are a list of foods that are more and less important to buy organic. You can print it here and keep it in your purse, if you like.

Next, we should try to avoid pesticide exposure in other areas of our life. This becomes an issues when we need to get rid of, say, pests! Try to use chemical free pest-control, when possible, for common household and yard insect issues. And if your kids are lucky enough to bring home head lice, ask for a low-toxicity medication.
